Rating Summary: 4.78 (out of a possible 5) — The team at the Grand Hyatt Singapore took special care to not only cater to our every need, but to anticipate them and go beyond the call of duty on every occasion. After some discussion, Jay (my husband) and I scored them 5/5 on almost all possible metrics including: Cleanliness, Service, Room (Layout, Accessibility), Comfort, Safety/Security, and Location. We did however score them 4/5 on the following:
- Common Areas/Facilities: 4/5 (Generally good and accessible, however we did have to carry our stroller inconveniently up 2 flights of stairs to get to the Club Lounge — I would think that a premium facility like the Club Lounge should have wheelchair and stroller access. Especially considering the wide range of VIPs with a variety of needs they may receive.)
- Dining: 4.25/5 overall
- In-Room: 4.5/5 (The food was generally good but the bread was dry and price-wise quite steep)
- Club Lounge Breakfast: 4/5 (The spread okay but was not as comprehensive as one would expect – no waffles or pancake station, and limited on the fruits and cheeses)
In mid March we had to go to Singapore for a work errand over a 3 day, 2 night trip. Thanks to work (corporate partnerships), and some encouraging reviews, I decided to book the Grand Hyatt Singapore (located conveniently on Orchard Road) for our stay. I had been there overnight once before – thanks to another work-related project earlier in my career, and had around that time made friends with a lovely woman on the Marketing team named Elizabeth (hi, Eliz!). A couple of days before my trip, I decided to reach out to Eliz to see if she could have coffee as I would be around. Little did I know, some very special scheming was to begin from that moment onward.
On the day of our arrival, I received a note from the Hyatt pre-welcoming us and “eagerly anticipating our arrival.” Thinking it sweet, but expecting nothing less from a five-star hotel of its kind, I was certainly not prepared for what lay before us when we entered our room: every imaginable need for our little family, meticulously taken care of, and then some extra sugar on top too!
Here are some of the highlights:
#1 A complementary baby hygiene care package by Cussons (as well as a sterilizer for us to use/borrow)…
#2 A Pack N’ Play all set up with fresh linens and, #3 a brand new (COMPLEMENTARY!) copy of Goodnight Moon. (This was an incredible bonus as I had been on the hunt for this particular book for weeks before this.)
#4 A baby tub that we didn’t even ask for…
And the cherry on top of the hot fudge sundae you didn’t know you’d been craving for years: #5 THIS lovely “Lucas-Themed” Surprise!
It was truly incredible work from Gregoire, Sarah and Gopica of the Grand Hyatt Singapore’s VIP Care Team. Thank you all so much for making us feel comfortable, welcome, and incredibly well cared-for. Every need was anticipated, and every extra mile traveled for our comfort and our pleasure.
On top of that, the room itself was incredibly well-suited for family travel, with plenty of room to set up changing, cleaning (bottles), and feeding stations:
I would definitely recommend it to any family traveling in Singapore who would like to invest in a good place to stay!
